Harsha grew up with a quiet, but fierce desire to be independent
In a quiet corner of a small town called Akola, Harsha More and her family, comprising her parents and elder brother, eked out a meagre living. But even in Harsha’s hand-to-mouth existence, a dream shone bright. It showed up unexpectedly one day when she saw a sewing machine at her aunt’s home, and wanted to learn sewing. That day she was denied, kindling a spark that was to fuel her future.

Samta Foundation’s Dress Designing and Tailoring Courses were built to empower
Harsha was a bright student at Manutai Kanya Shala in Akola, with a bold and passionate streak. She was never afraid to take initiatives and make her own road. So, when the school announced its first-ever foundation course in Dress Designing and Tailoring, courtesy Samta Foundation, Harsha took a leap of faith and registered as its first student.

A course tailor-made by Samta Foundation
By the time she completed the course in 2018, Harsha transformed into an independent young woman. After her 10th standard, she turned her dream into a reality and plunged into the tailoring business. A stitching order from her school teacher became her first award.

Designing her own future
Today, Harsha is a healthy competitor to her aunt. She even bought a sewing machine for herself and earns as much as Rs. 500 a month by working part time. Not only is the earning enough to fund her own education, but she also contributes 10% to her family income every month. Now in the 12th standard, Harsha aims to pursue a career in commerce, while pursuing her passion for stitching in a big way. A finely stitched future awaits her.
